For some applications, particularly retaining wall products, very precise control of finished height is critical, and failure to do so can lead to substantial warranty costs for the producer. In many cases this level of precision is extremely difficult to achieve consistently due to the variations in fill and compaction that are normal for the dry cast process.

Rampf has developed a tamperhead incorporating control mechanisms that work in conjunction with your machine controller to maintain finished product height within +/- 1 mm. The head features rigid pins of fixed length that contact the top of the mold cavities, preventing the shoes from compacting the concrete beyond a predetermined height. These pins are released during the de-molding cycle, allowing the product to strip from the mold.

The non hydraulic unit operates on shop air pressure, utilizing rugged air springs to drive the mechanism.
